Video | Chinese GJ-11 Sharp Sword UCAV spotted during test flight..

The Chinese GJ-11 drone, presented in 2019 and still in the process of being integrated into Chinese military units, is equipped with advanced stealth capabilities. It is not exclusively dedicated to observation but is also described as being capable of delivering long-range weaponry. Moreover, it resembles Dassault's nEUROn drone and Boeing's Loyal Wingman, suggesting that it could be easily integrated into aerial patrols.

The GJ-11, nicknamed "Sharp Sword," is manufactured by the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), a Chinese state-owned conglomerate specializing in aerospace and defense. AVIC is one of the largest defense and aerospace companies in China and plays a central role in developing advanced military technologies, including combat drones like the GJ-11.

The GJ-11 was designed with a reduced radar signature thanks to its aerodynamic shape and the use of radar-absorbing materials. This stealth capability allows it to penetrate heavily defended airspaces without being detected by enemy radar systems. Although the exact details of its range have not been disclosed, the GJ-11 is designed to carry out long-distance missions, indicating a significant range, probably several thousand kilometers, with substantial flight endurance.

The GJ-11 can carry a wide range of armaments, including missiles, precision bombs, and potentially anti-radar munitions. These weapons are carried internally to maintain its stealth. It can conduct reconnaissance, surveillance, electronic warfare, and precision strike missions. The GJ-11 can operate autonomously as a strike force or in cooperation with other aerial assets. AVIC has announced that the GJ-11 is equipped with autonomous flight capabilities based on artificial intelligence, allowing it to fly autonomously and/or follow pre-programmed plans.

The GJ-11 is designed to operate from land bases, but it could also be deployed on aircraft carriers, thus expanding its operational reach in maritime conflict zones. Recently, it has been reported that the GJ-11 can be operated from the Type 075 amphibious assault ship.

This ship, being an amphibious helicopter carrier, has only a very short takeoff and landing runway, which suggests that the GJ-11 drone is capable of taking off and landing within a distance not exceeding 232 meters, the maximum length of the Type 075's deck.
