The development of the HÜRKUŞ began in 2021, with rigorous ground testing conducted before its first flight at Akıncı Air Base. During the 20-minute test flight, the aircraft reached an altitude of 6,500 feet and a speed of 140 knots, confirming its readiness for operational use. This achievement follows a challenging period for Turkish Aerospace, which intensified its efforts to strengthen national defense following a terrorist attack on its facilities in late 2024.
The HÜRKUŞ is recognized as one of the most advanced aircraft in its category, integrating structural optimizations, weight reductions, and aerodynamic features tailored for effective pilot training. Significant progress in localization has been achieved, with critical components such as the canopy, cooling system, hydraulic pump, and Identification Friend or Foe systems now produced domestically.
Mass production is underway, with the first batch of 15 aircraft scheduled for delivery to the Turkish Air Force by 2025, while the remaining 40 units are expected by 2027.
