Russian Army to form new rocket, missile, tube artillery units by 2021
Russia’s Army will form new rocket, missile and tube artillery units by 2021, the Defense Ministry’s press office said.

"The Army’s Field Artillery is planned to have three types of high-mobility brigades armed with advanced and promising military and special hardware. The talk is about missile, rocket and tube artillery brigades with combat capabilities increased by 1.5-2 times," the press office said.

Work was completed in 2016 to develop the new-generation Tornado-S multiple launch rocket system with increased range and accuracy and advanced higher-power rockets.

Rocket units continue to receive the Tornado-G multiple launch rocket system with the homing capability.

Anti-tank units are being equipped with the state-of-the-art Khrizantema-S (NATO reporting name: AT-15 Springer) anti-tank missile system that can pierce all operational tanks at night in complex weather conditions.

As of today, the majority of missile large units has been armed with the Iskander-M (SS-26 Stone) tactical ballistic missile system and they continue to receive it in accordance with the program.

The delivery of Iskander-M missile systems has been synchronized with the construction of infrastructural facilities to accommodate them.
