Escribano and NIMR to jointly produce Jais 6x6 armored vehicles in Spain.

On February 19, 2025, the Spanish company EM&E Group, also known as Escribano, entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NIMR, a manufacturer of 6x6 armored vehicles based in the United Arab Emirates. The agreement, signed during IDEX 2025, is focused on the transfer of knowledge and expertise to support the production of the Jais 6x6 mine-resistant ambush-protected (MRAP) vehicles in Spain. This initiative aims to enhance Spain's technological and industrial capacity within the defense sector.

The collaboration is part of the broader strategic partnership between EM&E Group and NIMR, facilitating the integration of NIMR’s manufacturing methodologies into EM&E Group’s Spanish facilities. The agreement is designed to ensure that the vehicles produced in Spain meet the high technological and operational standards required by the international market. This cooperation aligns with EM&E Group’s approach to expanding its international reach and strengthening industrial ties with globally recognized defense companies.

Escribano Mechanical & Engineering (EM&E) operates its main facilities in Alcalá de Henares, Madrid, with 45,000 square meters dedicated to the design and manufacturing of advanced defense systems. The company also maintains additional sites in Córdoba, Huesca, Asturias, Cádiz, and Valencia, extending its national footprint. In Córdoba, EM&E is developing facilities within the Rabanales 21 technology park, focusing on the production of guided munitions and the assembly of the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (SILAM) for the Spanish Army. This network of facilities supports EM&E's role in enhancing Spain's defense manufacturing capabilities.

Under this partnership, EM&E Group will gain access to NIMR's expertise in armored vehicle manufacturing and integration, contributing to the development of local production capabilities. The agreement also provides NIMR with an opportunity to enter the European market, broadening its geographical footprint. The agreement establishes EM&E Group as one of the few companies in Spain with the capacity to produce advanced 6x6 vehicles. It reflects the company's strategy to enhance innovation and support the development of high-technology defense products.

The Jais 6x6, which will be produced under the agreement between EM&E Group and NIMR, is a mine-resistant ambush-protected (MRAP) vehicle designed to provide protection against mines, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and ballistic threats. It is equipped with a 600-horsepower engine, enabling a top speed of 105 km/h and a maximum range of 700 km. The vehicle features a modular design that supports multiple configurations, including infantry fighting vehicle, armored personnel carrier, ambulance, and command and control. The Jais 6x6 accommodates a crew of up to 11 and incorporates advanced protection systems, allowing for deployment in a range of operational scenarios.
