LANDEURO 2025: Karaok Turkish Infrared Guided Anti-Tank Missile Neutralizes Tanks with Fire and Forget Mode.
At LandEURO 2025, Roketsan presents its portable anti-tank missile system Karaok. This short-range guided missile, already in service with the Turkish Armed Forces, is showcased with the clear objective of expanding into new international markets. Malaysia is the first export customer, with deliveries expected by early 2026. The event provides Roketsan an opportunity to demonstrate the operational capabilities of this munition designed to engage and neutralize modern armored threats.

The Karaok is a 125 mm diameter missile integrated into a launch tube with a total weight of less than 16 kg, including the missile and the launcher. This lightweight configuration ensures significant battlefield mobility for infantry units, with a system designed for operation by a single soldier. It is equipped with a dual-thrust hybrid engine, optimized for firing in confined spaces, which is essential for urban combat or in environments where troops are exposed to close-range armored threats. This propulsion system ensures user safety during launch while providing rapid acceleration towards the target.
Technically, the Karaok employs an Imaging Infrared (IIR) seeker that enables fire-and-forget capability, allowing the operator to disengage immediately after firing. The missile locks onto and tracks the target autonomously until impact, maintaining effectiveness in nighttime or low-visibility conditions. This guidance system enhances hit probability while minimizing the operator's exposure to enemy retaliation. Karaok offers two attack profiles: direct attack for frontal engagements and top attack aimed at striking the upper sections of armored vehicles, which are typically less protected.
The warhead is a tandem charge shaped explosive, specifically designed to penetrate modern reactive armor. This munition can defeat passive defense systems such as Explosive Reactive Armor (ERA) by first neutralizing the outer layer before penetrating the main armor. As a result, Karaok is effective against the latest generation of main battle tanks and various types of armored personnel carriers and infantry fighting vehicles.
Karaok has an effective range of 2.5 kilometers, sufficient for providing a tactical advantage in close combat or engagements requiring discretion and speed. Roketsan highlights the missile's precision performance through recent trials, including a demonstration where the missile conducted a top attack with a terminal dive from just 50 meters altitude, ensuring an accurate strike on the designated target.
Malaysia has officially selected the Karaok to replace the Russian-made Metis-M system, which has been in service with the Malaysian military for two decades. The contract includes the delivery of 18 launchers and just over a hundred missiles, alongside a comprehensive training program for Malaysian personnel and instructors. This program encompasses simulator sessions and live-fire exercises. This first export contract could pave the way for further sales in Southeast Asia and other regions.
Roketsan, a subsidiary of the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, continues to consolidate its position in the international market for portable anti-tank systems. Through Karaok, the manufacturer leverages expertise developed with the OMTAS and UMTAS missiles to provide a mobile, efficient solution tailored to contemporary battlefield requirements. The missile's adoption by Turkey and Malaysia suggests a potential gradual spread to other armed forces seeking a lightweight and autonomous system against modern armored threats.
