Ukrainian GYURZA-02 Armoured Vehicle Presented at IDEF 2025 Signals a Shift in Urban Warfare Protection.
Presented during IDEF 2025 in Istanbul, the GYURZA-02 represents the latest evolution in wheeled armored fighting vehicles developed by the Ukrainian defense manufacturer UKR ARMO TECH. Designed specifically for the transport of troops, reconnaissance missions, and fire support in complex operational environments, the vehicle immediately stood out at the show due to its imposing configuration, including a net armor cage covering one side. This feature, visible in the exhibition, reflects a deliberate design response to the growing threats posed by drones and shaped charges, highlighting a pragmatic and forward-thinking approach to survivability on the modern battlefield. Its appearance at a major Eurasian defense event sends a clear message about Ukraine’s industrial capabilities in the midst of ongoing conflict.

The GYURZA-02 is built on a robust and independent double wishbone suspension chassis capable of handling 18 tonnes, with a Cummins ISDe6.7-330 engine allowing for a top speed of 110 km/h. It accommodates a 10+1 crew configuration and is optimized for both on-road and off-road deployment in temperate zones. The armored protection corresponds to NATO STANAG 4569 level 2/3, while additional options include advanced electronic warfare systems, blackout lighting, and filtration against chemical, biological, and radiological threats. At IDEF, the vehicle’s presentation focused on its operational flexibility, combining modern battlefield survivability with adaptability to a wide range of mission profiles, from urban patrols to rear-area convoy protection.
Developed based on extensive operational feedback from Ukrainian troops, the GYURZA-02 benefits from a development cycle rooted in real combat usage. Since 2022, Ukrainian forces have encountered multiple emerging threats that have informed the design and adaptation of their ground platforms. UKR ARMO TECH leveraged its internal engineering capacity and vertical integration to create a combat-proven, modular vehicle platform. The company's philosophy of continuous in-house testing, rapid prototyping, and full-cycle manufacturing ensures that every version of the GYURZA-02 integrates lessons learned from the front lines. The company has confirmed that over ten configurations are under active development, each adapted to specific user requirements.
Compared to similar international platforms such as the American Oshkosh M-ATV or the Polish TUR V, the GYURZA-02 offers significant tactical advantages, particularly in terms of built-in modularity and counter-drone readiness. Whereas many Western vehicles require aftermarket adaptation for emerging threats like FPV drones, the GYURZA-02 includes, as standard or optional systems, AI-supported threat detection tools, smoke screen generators, and net armor shielding. This capacity for immediate battlefield relevance allows Ukrainian forces, and future export clients, to field a system that already anticipates current and future threat environments. The automatic unmanned turret, integrated communications, and advanced sensors give it a level of autonomy and efficiency sought by both regular and special forces.
Beyond its technical features, the GYURZA-02 has notable strategic implications. Its unveiling at IDEF 2025 not only affirms Ukraine’s commitment to rebuilding and expanding its defense industrial base under wartime pressure, but also positions the country as a credible defense exporter. Türkiye, hosting the exhibition, serves as a pivotal platform between NATO and regional buyers in Central Asia, the Caucasus, and North Africa. By presenting a platform that merges battlefield experience with scalable industrial production, UKR ARMO TECH projects Ukrainian defense innovation into new geopolitical spheres. The integration of next-generation AI systems for threat detection, including TacticAI, reinforces the vehicle’s relevance in hybrid and high-tech conflict environments, underscoring Ukraine’s dual identity as both a battlefield innovator and a strategic contributor to collective European defense.
The GYURZA-02, as revealed by UKR ARMO TECH at IDEF 2025, is far more than another armored personnel carrier, it is the embodiment of a defense strategy that blends combat-driven design with export-oriented manufacturing. With its mix of modern protection, advanced situational awareness, and scalability, the platform meets both the tactical and strategic needs of modern armed forces. In a context where adaptability, survivability, and speed of delivery are as critical as armor thickness or firepower, the GYURZA-02 offers a compelling answer to the challenges of current and future land warfare.
