Senator Schumer explained that these crucial radio parts will help keep the Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio System “SINCGARS” radio systems up to date and help protect our troops using this technology overseas. It is a five-year contract with an estimated completion date of July 2021. DoD received eight bids and competitively awarded the work to Harris as the winning bidder for this contract.

“This massive, and well-earned, $22.5 million contract will support existing jobs at Harris, as well as the 50 new jobs the SINCGARS production line brought to Rochester this past March. Harris Radio has proven, again and again, that they are capable of making superior radios and critical components for the most elite military in the world. Their radios are durable, dependable, and innovative, which means they have a long useful life to support some of the toughest missions around the globe,” said Schumer. “This contract will allow Harris and its top-notch employees to manufacture the updated equipment our dedicated men and women serving overseas need and deserve.”
