About
IDET
One of the largest world shows
of defence technologies in Central
and Eastern Europe is the IDET
Fair. Exhibitors from about 30
countries present their products
to foreign army delegations and
professionals all over the world.
The Brno IDET has acquired, within
12 years of its existence, a fixed
position in the company of the
best world shows of defence technologies.
Present political situation and
trade fair geographical position
are a presupposition of its development,
also in the next years.
In the Czech Republic IDET has
become an important social event
at which thousands of visitors,
hundreds of professionals, tens
of army delegations and war veterans
meet every two years. In 2005
IDET was the largest branch-related
fair in Europe and since 1997
it has been European number one
in uneven years.
An integral part of every show
run is a rich accompanying program,
where professionals in defence
technology discuss about topical
themes. Its major part is as usual
the International Conference CATE.
IDET as a great exhibition event
is not only a place, where contracts
are concluded, but also a location,
where new business contacts are
established.
The fair will be always a meeting
place of those who are seriously
interested in the security of
our country.

Guests
from all around the world - currently,
21 foreign military delegation at
IDET 2009 |
Along
with the Czech Ministry of Defence
and the Czech Army, the IDET organizers
prepare visits of many official
delegations from foreign countries.
Two years ago, delegations from
23 countries arrived. In February
2009, the Minister of Defence Vlasta
Parkanová invited top representatives
of defence ministries and army commands
from 76 countries of the world,
out of which 21 delegations accepted
the invitation so far (situation
to 21 April).
From each country addressed, defence
ministers and chiefs of the general
staff and national secretary generals
for armaments have been invited,
as well as ambassadors and air force
attachés. NATO Deputy Secretary
General Jirí Šedivý,
NATO Deputy Secretary General for
Armaments Richard Froh and the Executive
Director of EDA Alexander Weis and
many other eminent personalities
have been invited. As a tradition,
a chartered aircraft from Brussels
will arrive in Brno that will bring
national representatives accredited
at the NATO central office. The
Czech Army wants to use IDET to
support the Czech defence industry
and enable the Czech exhibitors
to meet their guests.

Ten
years of IDET it is the tenth anniversary
of the Czech Republic joining NATO |
This year’s
fair will mark some anniversaries
and important events indeed. They
will certainly be reflected in events
accompanying the fair, such as important
visits and guests. In cooperation
with the Ministry of Defence and
Czech Armed Forces we are organising
a number of official delegations
from abroad. Two years ago we had
suchdelegations from 23 countries.
This year the Minister’s invitation
will be sent to 75 countries worldwide.
She will invite ministers of defence
and persons in the positions of
chiefs of general staff, national
directors for armament, ambassadors,
military air force attachés.
Among the invited guests is Jirí
Šedivý, NATO Assistant
Secretary General for Defence Policy
and Planning, Richard Froh, NATO
Head of Lands Armaments Section,
or Alexander Weis, EDA Chief Executive,
and many more important persons.
As part of the jubilee fair and
anniversary these official delegations
and important guests will be invited
to spend full three days at the
fair. On top of this, the traditional
special flight from Brussels will
bring in representatives of states
accredited at the NATO headquarters.
The Czech Armed Forces wish to use
IDET to support the defence industry
and to facilitate the meeting of
Czech exhibitors with important
guests. Once again IDET will strengthen
its prestigious position in the
new NATO area and will celebrate
its decennial as well as other jubilees
and events with dignity.
