Paramount Group's unveil a new wheeled armoured fighting vehicle, the "Mbombe" at AAD 2010.

African defence companies are challenging the dominant Western suppliers such as BAE Systems and Lockheed Martin for the same contracts - and they have emerged as technological equals with a wide range of defence and security systems. Some of these systems – including one of the world’s best IED protected armoured vehicles (MPVs) – are set to be unveiled at Africa’s largest defence exhibition Africa Aerospace & Defence (AAD) in Cape Town.
