“On December 14th, the sixth regiment equipped
with ensiled Topol-M ballistic missiles became operational
within the ballistic division of Tatichtchevo (Saratov)”,
indicated the general Karakaïev.
The division deployed in the Volga region includes a
headquarters and two silos missiles, it specified. Four
other silos Topol-M missiles will become operational in
2011. In 2012, the regiment will have ten silos missiles
of this type, added the commander.
Missile RS-12M2 Topol-M (code NATO SS-27 Sickle B1) is
the first missile developed by Russia after the bursting
of the USSR. With a great manoeuvrability (it crosses
any anti-missile shield), very discrete and easy to deploy,
Topol-M exists in mobile and stationary version. This
missile could become the principal weapon of the Russian
strategic ballistic Troops within ten years.
