Army of India will upgrade T-90S main battle tank with new anti-tank guided missile. |

According to the Firstpost news website, the Indian army is working to upgrade firepower capacity of the T-90S Main Battle Tank (MBT) by the use of a a third generation of anti-tank guided missile system. Army of India is also working on a separate project to install a modular engine for the T-90 tanks so as to enhance their strike capability in high-altitude battle field.

The standard T-90S is able to fire the 9M119 Refleks (NATO designation AT-11 Sniper) anti-tank guided missile system. The range of the missile is from100 m to 4,000 m and takes 11.7 sec to reach maximum range.
According to Indian military sources, the new missile has a Depth of Penetration (DoP)of 800-850 mm and will be able to hit targets up to a range of 8 km in day and night conditions against static and mobile targets. The missiles, to be fired from the 125mm gun barrels of T-90S tanks, will be able to hit targets by taking a pre-flight programmed maneuvers. The new engine will increase the mobility of the T-90S developing from 1,200 to 1,500 hp. |
