BAE Systems Announces Media Briefing Programme for DSEi 2011.

In addition, a number of the company’s latest technologies will be on display, including Adaptiv, an 'invisibility cloak' developed for the battlefield which allows a vehicle to blend into its surroundings and the Ultra Lightweight Warrior body armour system, which is designed to offer adaptable protection and dramatic weight savings for soldiers.

Tuesday 13 September

10:30 Global Combat Ship and Type 26 update
This briefing will give an overview on the current status of the UK’s newest warship design programme. The briefing will also cover the opportunities available for prospective international partners to become involved in the Global Combat Ship (GCS) programme and the potential for it to meet the future requirements of many navies around the world.

12:30 BLAST – Brownout Landing Aid System Technology
This briefing will highlight the Brownout Landing Aid System Technology (BLAST), an aerodynamic solution that helps helicopter pilots see through obscurant conditions and achieve mission success.

13:30 Adaptiv - 'invisibility cloak' for the battlefield
BAE Systems has designed and tested an ‘invisibility cloak’ which allows a vehicle to blend into its surroundings, mimic another vehicle or display identification tags, reducing the risk of fratricide. The system, which can work over infra-red and other frequencies, will be on display at the exhibition in infra-red mode on a BAE Systems CV90 armoured vehicle.

14:30 CVR(T) Modernisation Programme
BAE Systems is targeting export users of its successful and adaptable CVR(T) recce vehicle family. Some 2,200 vehicles are in service with 16 nations and BAE Systems is offering a range of upgrade options to improve mobility, protection, firepower, reliability and inhabitability, based on the work already carried out for the British Army.

15:30 Computer games based simulation for front line safety
This briefing will look at computer games based virtual reality environments and how they are used to help train medics, prepare submariners for life underwater, and allow bomb disposal experts to learn how to avoid the deadly threats posed by Improvised Explosive Devices.
