Metravib defense at Milipol 2011 with a full range of gunshot detector for police and security forces. | |||
At
Milipol 2011 the French Defence Company Metravib presents a full range
of gunshot detector and its new PILARw Weapon Mounted Version. Dedicated
to Defense and Homeland Security markets, the Defense Division of Metravib
is focused on highly demanding products designed for threat detection
and localisation. Gunshots, RPGs, mortars, explosions, vehicle intrusion…
can be detected from the sound and also localised accurately. This unique
feature allows providing Armed or Police Forces, or Security personnel
information on potentially lethal threats and capability to efficiently
take appropriate action. |

The
PILARw systems provide enhanced situational awareness for small arms
attacks. Gunshots are among the main threats in guerrilla, trafficking,
asymmetric conflicts situations for law enforcement and military forces.
Therefore, the ability to automatically detect and locate a gunshot in
a complex environment grants the forces a leading advantage to succeed
in their missions. This is the core function of the light acoustic sensor
systems PILARw. The PILARw systems are designed to provide in realtime
accurate information on enemy location. |

PILARw
Vehicle - The gunshot detector becomes a tactical tool. The latest version of the gunshot detection and localization system PILARw for integration on ground vehicle is not only a system dedicated to the auto protection of the vehicle but also a tactical tool. For example, thanks to the integration of a GPS (the standard configuration features a built-in GPS but it is also compatible with military grade GPS), it provides the grid coordinates of the enemy with friendly positions and therefore to determine in real time which is the best response strategy and avoids fratricide shootings. PILARw also gives the calibre of the detected shots in two classes: < = 7,62mm and > 7,62mm. Besides the preparation of mission, the software of the PILARw is also used for the debriefing session thanks to the recording of all the shot events (location, calibre, date and time etc.). PILARw is thus an ideal sensor for integration in the digital battle field (C4ISR). Many Armed Forces have decided to go for it, with PILARw display available for the crew when the gunner benefits from the link with the Remote Weapon Station (RWS) and the vehicle commander will see the information directly into the BMS screen. |
