Rafael
is one of the leading air and missile defense system houses
in the world. It developed the first anti-missile and
air defense missile Barak for naval applications and the
Defender as ground based air defense. Recently, Rafael
won competitions for developing and manufacturing an anti-rocket
and missile system known as the Iron Dome and a Short
Range Ballistic Defense System ( SRBDM) in cooperation
with Raytheon Missiles Systems known as David's Sling.

The
Spyder-SR System is a low level, quick reaction missile
system, designed to engage and destroy a wide spectrum of
threats, such as attack aircraft, combat helicopters, bombers,
cruise missiles, UAVs and UCAVs and stand-off weapons.
Spyder-SR ADS ensures protection of high value assets (such
as air force bases, Naval Bases, Communication Centers etc.)
as well as maneuvering combat forces.
Spyder-SR is an all-weather, network-centric, self-propelled,
multi-launcher quick reaction, air defense system. The system
enables 3600 missile launching within 5 seconds of the target
being declared hostile by the Spyder-SR system.
Spyder-SR missiles are Rafael's most advanced, air-to-air
missiles: the Derby, active radar Beyond Visual Range (BVR)
missile and the Python 5, a sophisticated dual band Imaging
Infra Red (IIR) missile. |

The
Spyder -MR System is a Medium Range Air Defense Missile
System (MRADMS), based mainly on the same elements as the
Spyder SR and designed to engage and destroy the same wide
spectrum of threats. The Spyder-MR ADS ensures protection
of high value assets (such as, capital areas, air force
bases, etc.) as well as maneuvering combat forces.
Spyder-MR is an all-weather, network-centric, self-propelled,
multi-launcher quick reaction ADS. The system enables 3600
degree vertical missile launching within 2 seconds of the
target being declared hostile by the SPYDER-MR system.
Like the Spyder-SR the Spyder-MR uses Rafael's most advanced,
air-to-air missiles – the Derby and the Python 5.
Both missiles contain a booster.
The Spyder ADS family is participating in competitions around
the globe and has already been chosen by several armed forces. |
