Russia must re-equip his armed forces in 5 to 10 years, said Saturday, September 23, 2011, in Moscow Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, who could become the next president.

"We must completely re-equip our army and our navy force in 5 to 10 years," said Putin, whose candidacy for the presidency next Saturday had been proposed by the outgoing President Dmitry Medvedev in Russian pre-election congress of the party.

The re-equipment of the army "is an important instrument of the modernization of the defense industry and the entire Russian economy," Putin said.
