The
SPM-3 was developed jointly by the specialists of the
Russian Defence Companies BMK and Arzamas Machinery Plant.
The SPM-3 “BEAR” (Ballistic Enhanced Armour)
special police vehicle of 4x4 wheeled arrangement is indented
to be used as means of transport capable of protecting
its crew from small arms fire, improvised explosive devices
(IED), chemical agents and police gear on counterterrorist
operations.
The
hull and armoured windows can withstand the B-32 armour
piercing bullets fired from the SVS Sniper Rifle at a
distance of 100 m. The SPM3 Bear is also capable of withstanding
the blast produced by a 6 kg HE device with the personnel
inside being unharmed.
