Saab's
state-of-the-art Ground Based Air Defence Missile Systems,
RBS70 and BAMSE, offer Brazil and other nations the most
effective solution for protection of civil infrastructure
as well as national air-space. The unique features of
the system, being unjammable and offering extremely short
reaction/reloading time, makes it the ideal solution for
protection of large events like the upcoming FIFA World
Cup 2014 and the Olympic Games 2016.

The
need for securing the national air-space is certainly
a vital part on every nations security agenda. The need
for protection against aggression from other nations has
historically been the basis for this need.
Today, in a world changing towards increased threats from
asymmetric threats like terrorist attacks the focus has
to be widened. Today, not only terrorist attacks from
the ground have to be dealt with. Also terrorist attacks
from the air to large events are a risk that has to be
calculated with and handled.

The
unique features of the RBS70 and the BAMSE systems are unmatched
on the market today. The features include unjammable systems
with down to ground engagement capability as well as the
man in the loop with the possibility to destroy the missile
all the way until target intercept.
For protection of vital infrastructure
the RBS70 can be deployed on e.g. rooftops and engage
targets without being affected by any other features in
the surrounding terrain unlike IR systems that will be
affected by different heat-sources like air conditioning
units and fans. RBS70 have longer range, 8 km, than any
other SHORAD system on the market even against incoming
small targets. In addition the reaction times and time
for reloading for both the BAMSE and the RBS70 are shorter
than for any other systems in there respective classes
(MRADS and SHORADS).
Fore more information on the systems,
please visit the Saab stand at LAAD, where we also offer
the possibility to try out the RBS70 system live in the
simulator.
