The vehicle was developed by the consortium formed of four parties, Silesian University of Technology - leader. Project team was recruited among the employees and students of: Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Automatic Control, Electronics and Computer Science, Huta Stalowa Wola S.A., AGH University of Science and Technology and WASKO S.A.

The vehicle is based on the chassis of Russian-made self-propelled howitzer 2S1. A new turrret is mounted at the rear of the chassis which can be equipped with sensors, optronics and communication equipment for reconnaissance missions. A camera is mounted at the front of the chassis near the driver hatch.

The goal of the project was creating an universal, amphibious tracked platform dedicated for military, rescue and special services. The platform was intended to work in tele-operated and autonomous mode of operation in hazardous environment and dangerous zones.

The main features of the vehicle are hybrid electric drive application with capability of energy recuperation during braking. Furthermore, zero turn and various turning radiuses are available, semi-active suspension and track tensioning system, tele-operated mode and autonomous operation mode. The vehicle is motorized by a 220 kW Diesel engine which provides a maximum speed of 75km/h.

The vehicle can be used in different modes as low speed ride with using electric traction motors for propulsion. Energy is provided by electric generator or battery (electric and series hybrid mode), medium and high speed ride with using diesel engine for propulsion and electric motor for energy generation (hybrid parallel mode), top speed ride with using diesel and electric mode for propulsion (hybrid parallel mode), braking or downhill ride with energy recuperation (electric motors working in generation mode), and battery charging in a parked vehicle (with using diesel as an energy source for electric engines working in generation mode).

The advantages of using an hybrid electric drive compared to mechanical are the reduction of fuel consumption, extended range, noise and heat emission reduction, transmission system geometrical location flexibility, stealth mode of operation with using electric propulsion and batteries as a power source.
