The
Rosomak (named Wolverine in the Polish Army) is a wheeled armoured infantry
fighting vehicle (AIFV) used by the Polish Armed Forces since 2005. The
Polish Land Forces contingent, which is a part of the International Security
Assistance Force in Afghanistan (ISAF) have currently 100 Rosomak vehicles
deployed in the country. The AIFV version of the Rosomak is equipped with an HITFIST 30 turret designed and manufactured by the Italian Company Oto Melara. The turret is armed with a 30mm ATK Mk 44 chain gun and 7.62mm NATO UKM-2000C machine gun. The turret has advanced fire control system with thermal sight and Obra laser warning system connected to six 81 mm 902A ZM Dezamet smoke grenade launchers. The contract for turrets for the Polish Army signed in 2006 originally postulated producing 270 units, but this amount has been recently increased. The contract will be realized next year. Experience gained through turrets’ production will allow “Bumar – Labedy” S.A. Mechanical Works to sign more contracts for turrets for Polish combat platforms. |
