The
IDF (Israel Defence Forces) is in the first phase of acquiring Rafael’s
new Mini-Spike. The smallest member of Rafael’s family of Spike
missiles, the new system weighs 4 kg. At the defence exhibition of Paris,
Eurosatory 2012, the Israeli Company Rafael unveiled the MINI Spike, a
man portable, multi-purpose miniature electro-optical missile weapon system. |

MINI SPIKE is the
smallest and most light member of the SPIKE FAMILY. The Missile Weapon
System includes an advanced miniature control launch unit (MICLU) and
a miniaturized state of the art Elect optical precision attack wireless
guided missile. The Mini-Spike is 70 cm in length and 75 mm in diameter. Each soldier can carry four missiles with a special carrier, and the soldier carrying the launch and control system can carry an additional two missiles. While this version of the missile is intended to hit human targets, it is likely that in the future, other missiles will be developed for other types of targets. |
