LIG Nex1, a total defense systems company from the world’s seventh largest military power, South Korea, has participated in INDO DEFENCE every year since 2008. The company offers a total solution for the battlefields of the Army, Navy and Air Force, with world-class precision guided weapon system, radars and surveillance/reconnaissance system, precision-strike weapon systems and command, control and communication system.

At IndoDefence 2012, LIG Nex1 presents its portable surface-to-air missile, the “Chiron”, as part of its efforts towardsparticipation in Indonesia’s air defense system procurement project. The Chiron is the world’s fifth portable surface-to-air missile SAM system that can closely assist in air defence against enemy aircraft and helicopters infiltrating at low-altitude.

The missile has a superior SSKP Single-Shot Kill Probability compared to conventional SAMs. The missile is equipped with advanced technologies, such as infrared counter-countermeasures by infrared seeker, a dual-thrust system that enhances the missile’s terminal velocity, and a new proximity and impact fuse. The missile’s IFF identification friend or foe, developed by LIG Nex1, enables the identification of enemy aircraft. The missile can also be operated at night if used with a night vision.
