Russian Company ALMAZ shows for the first time at IDEX a new battlefield surveillance radar.
Russia’s air-defense systems manufacturer Almaz-Antei shows for the first time mockup models of advanced battlefield surveillance radar systems at the IDEX-2013 international arms exhibition in Abu Dhabi. Almaz-Antei will display models of FARA-PV, a modernized, portable short-range battlefield surveillance radar with a panoramic display, and Project 1L277, a short-range solid-state ground surveillance radar.

In 2011 the short-range solid-state ground surveillance radar (designation 1L277) successfully completed all state tests.

This radar is designed for location of moving targets (personnel and vehicles) and stationary objects day or night in any season of the year; automatic transmission of data to the user; and adjustment of artillery fire based on bursts of shells (mortar bombs).

The radar utilizes a phased array, a wideband pulse LFM waveform for detection of moving targets and bursts of shells (mortar bombs), and a discrete FM signal for detection of stationary objects (vehicles). The radar uses solid-state microwave components and has high reliability and light weight. Digital signal processing methods and electronic beam scanning allow up to 20 targets to be tracked in a designated surveillance sector and provide automatic recognition of moving targets.

Project 1L277 can track up to 20 targets and is capable of automatic moving target recognition.

Representatives of nine defense firms affiliated with Almaz-Antei take part in the exhibition.

The new Russian-made portable radar 1L277 is designed for the detection and tracking of moving or static personnel and vehicle targets by day or night in all weather.
