At Milipol 2013, British company BCB which specializes in the manufacture of military equipment protection, will offer French security forces a device that enables security teams to catch, trap and disable fast ships used in drug trafficking, piracy or terrorism without resorting to lethal force.

Piracy attacks are escalating and there remains the risk of terrorist threats not only in coastal waters but in ports, inland waterways and offshore projects.

To combat this threat, BCB International have developed the Buccaneer Light Weight Interceptor (LWI), a non-lethal air pressurised launcher for vessel entanglement and immobilisation.

This device has an operating range of over 200 meters and is capable of deploying an entrapment zone ahead of a suspect vessel, disabling its props through entanglement and bring the target to a rapid stop within a matter of seconds.

Its low weight and robust construction makes it ideally suited for mounting on small patrol craft such as RIBs and can be brought into action within seconds – or remotely fired from a fixed position such as critical infrastructure.
