Second battery of Russian-made TOR-M2 air defence system enters in service with Belarus army.
Belarus has put the second battery of Russia's TOR-M2 air defense system into service, the Defense Ministry said on Thursday, January 10, 2013. Deputy Defense Minister Igor Lotenkov added that the military has also signed a contract for the delivery of the third battery in 2013.

The TOR-M2 system, designed by Russian defense company Almaz-Antey, was delivered to Belarus as part of the government arms program for 2006-2015.

Like the first battery, which was delivered in 2011, the second battery comprises four combat vehicles and is capable of simultaneously intercepting 16 targets flying from any directions at a speed of 700 meters per second with a tactical range of 12 km and an altitude of 10 km.

As an upgraded version of the TOR-M1 missile system, the TOR-M2 doubles the number of targets that can be intercepted simultaneously by each combat vehicle to four.
