GROM Anti-Aircraft Missile Set is used to destroy visually observable air targets including aircrafts, helicopters, and other targets that emit infrared radiation flying on rendezvous courses at the speed of up to 400 m/s and pursuit courses at the speed of up to 360 m/s and are in the destruction zone with the following parameters limits:

The minimum height of a target – 10 meters

The maximum height of a target – 3000 – 4000 meters

Farther striking distance – up to 5500 meters

Closer striking distance – 500 meters

The system is portable, it can be operated by one soldier and it can also be mounted on land platforms and helicopters. This fire-and-forget missiles are equipped with a seeker, which has options for identifying a target as friend or foe and thermovision.

POPRAD is a short-range anti-aircraft system capable of destroying air targets at low and middle altitudes, using homing guidance missiles. It is suited for interoperation in an automated air defense command and control system, from which the data of targets to be engaged are acquired via digital links.

The POPRAD missile launching system is mounted on the rear part of the Zubr (AMW) 4x4 light armoured vehicle.

The high dynamic performance of the tracking head makes it possible to engage fast and maneuvering targets. An infrared (FLIR) camera has been employed for target acquisition and tracking, enabling effective use of the system in day and night conditions. An IFF interrogator has been incorporated into the tracking head to minimize the possibility of mistakable engagement of friendly aircraft, which gives POPRAD the possibility of operating more autonomously in the battlefield.
