Czech
Defence Minister Vlastimil Picek said on Monday that the Czech Republic
officially offered the United Nations soldiers for its peace mission in
the Golan Heights, but added Czech soldiers would not go there before

The statements came after Picek and Foreign Minister Jan Kohout met Herve Ladsous, UN under-secretary general for peacekeeping operations, at the end of last week. Up to 150 Czech soldiers could be deployed in the mission, while five Czech transport helicopters could join UN peacekeeping forces in the west Sudanese region of Darfur and three combat helicopters could be deployed in Mali. There are 38 Czech soldiers already participating in the European Union Training Mission in Mali. |
