Elektrobit launches Tablet, Smartphone And Module for Defence and Public Safety Markets
Elektrobit (EB) a leading developer of cutting-edge embedded technology solutions for automotive and wireless industries, announced the release of three new form factors for the award-winning EB Specialized Device Platform:
· H3 smartphone
· T1 ruggedized tablet
· M1 LTE connectivity module


By leveraging latest mass-market mobile device hardware and software technologies, the new form factors enable specialized markets such as public safety, defense and industrial to roll-out customized products that meet industry-specific functional or performance requirements faster and with lower development risks and costs.

The new form factors enhance the EB Specialized Device Platform product portfolio with more device options, better LTE support, more advanced peripherals and latest Android features. They illustrate the versatility and the scalability of the EB platform, allowing EB's customers to benefit from commercial mobile technologies such as Android and LTE. The new form factors are fully functional reference devices, providing customers a solid foundation for adding various market-specific features and other customizations.

“Using common key technologies for these new form factors demonstrates the power and versatility of our platform,” said Jani Lyrintzis, vice president of EB’s Specialized Device Platforms business. “This will result in major cost savings through economies of scale and will ultimately benefit our customers and at the same time provide them with the latest advances in form factors that they require.”

o Runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, upgradeable to Key Lime Pie
o 7” WXGA (1280x800) LCD display, with GorillaGlass™ hardened cover glass
o Ruggedized, waterproof casing (meets IP67 and MIL-STD-810G requirements, , ready for certification)
o Interfaces for optional peripherals, including biometric sensors

· H3 Smartphone
o 4.3” qHD (960x540) LCD display
o Runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, upgradeable to Key Lime Pie
o Advanced LTE, WCDMA, EGPRS modem, customizable for new or emerging frequency bands
o Compact form factor suitable for various industries and applications

· M1 Module
o Connectivity to up to seven LTE frequency bands, including band 14 for FirstNet
o Industry standard mPCIe card form factor
o Support for Windows and Linux environments

The EB Specialized Device Platform is comprised of components specifically selected to extend the end-product lifecycle, to deliver excellent performance, as well as to simplify the platform’s evolution. The pre-integrated platform and proven technologies enable cost savings and rapid time-to-market. In addition, EB can also provide their customers optional advanced features such as integrated mobile satellite chipsets, biometric sensors and P25 connectivity.
