The Kestrel series rockets are a new generation of shoulder launched weapon. The Kestrel launcher unit is equipped with optical sight and tactical mount for night vision goggle. The Kestrel can meet all the requirements in all-weather combat conditions. The Kestrel has been undergoing testing, and engineer of CSIST said that the rocket launcher system would enter in service with the Taiwanese Marine Corps in the next few months. The launcher is made of FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic), which is lightweight, tough, simple and man-portable. The Kestrel can fire at a maximum range of 400m with a maximum penetration depth of 400 mm with HEAT rocket, and has an effective range of 150 m with HESH rocket. The launcher is disposable, and this design can significantly improve the survivability of individual soldier. The Kestrel is able to fire both anti-armor HESH (High Explosive Squash Head) and HEAT (High Explosive Anti-Tank) rockets. The rockets are water, mud and sand proof, so it can be used in the harsh conditions of modern battlefield. The rockets are suitable for both anti-landing operation and urban environment. The rockets are also suitable for mobile or single operation. This is truly a next generation of HEAT/HESH rocket s with light, robust, fine design and will accommodate to asymmetric operation with innovation concept in the future. |
