Currently 120 NIMR 4x4 light tactical armoured vehicles are in service with the Libyan army.

The spokesman for the Libyan General Staff. Ali Shiekhi was quoted by Chinese news agency Xinhua today as saying that the new NIMRs had been supplied as a result of an agreement made last year, between the Ministry of Defence and Jordan. The new armoured vehicles are to be deployed immediately on border patrol duties.

More than 500 NIMRs have been sold, mostly in Jordan, Lebanon, Libya and the UAE, and the firm says that it has a further 1,800 orders.

Nimr supplies the UAE Armed Forces and the Algerian Armed Forces with their maiden 4x4 vehicles. "We have 2,000 orders for the 4x4 vehicles and earlier signed a contract with the Algerian government to build Nimr vehicles there," said Mr Al Mazroui, general manager of Nimr Automotive.

According to Mr Al Mazroui the vehicles have a flexibility of use and can work in different environments to the ones present in the UAE. "Over the next 18 months we will be presenting the vehicles in Brazil, Turkey, all the GCC countries and the Middle East to present the vehicles' performance on their own terrain," he said.

At IDEX 2013, defence exhibition in Abu Dhabi, Nimr Automotive unveils the first entirely Arab-built six-wheeled armoured personnel carrier. The Nimr 6x6 APC was designed and manufactured in the UAE by Emirati engineers over 18 months.
