At MSPO 2013, Polish Defence Holding is showcasing
2 of its Air defence systems: HYDRA, a 35mm anti-aircraft gun system which
is remote controlled and the self-propelled tracked anti-aircraft artillery
and missile system ZSU-23-4MP BIALA. |

Hydra is designed to fight various air target (Aircrafts, cruise missiles, UAV...) flying at very low, low or medium altitude. The gun can also be used to destroy lightly armored land and naval targets. When coupled with a command and control unit (e.g UMBRELLA) the Hydra constitutes an air defense battery fire unit. the theoritical rate of fire 550 rounds per minute. The Biala system is fully autonomous and fire at the same targets as the Hydra but with 4, 23mm canons and 4 Grom missile launchers. It can as well fire on lightly armoured ground and naval targets. The system has been enhanced and has better range, passive sensors and better tracking range, 7-8 km, for a detection radius of 10km. The Biala is a modernization of the Szylka System and Around 70 ZSU-23-4MP self-propelled anti-aircraft guns are to be produced for the Polish army. |
