Leclerc
Main Battle Tank MBT The Leclerc MBT was selected by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Armed Forces in the early 90’s due to its outstanding performances, and is particularly suitable for the very harsh local environment. Furthermore, the UAE requested Nexter Systems to modify the initial French Army Leclerc in order to provide new capabilities which were absolutely unmatched at the time. Thus, the UAE’s Leclerc MBT was the first serial tank in the world equipped with a battle management system. Two stabilized sights are fitted with day and night infra-red channels as well as laser rangefinders. Thanks to the Euro-PowerPack and oleopneumatic suspensions the mobility of the tank across the UAE’s very difficult sand dunes is impressive. The autoloader, which reduces the crew to three people, enables firing on the move at high speed regardless of the terrain. Meanwhile, the Leclerc benefits from the performances of the 120 mm smooth bore gun which has a potent “Hunter Killer” effect. This gun fires all types of 120 mm rounds; kinetic energy (armour-piercing, fin-stabilised, discarding sabot and explosive ammunitions) and High Explosive, to name just two and is equipped with Galix suite. Some of the UAE Leclerc’s MBTs are now equipped with the Azur kit which enhances 360° protection against rockets in urban warfare, and the country’s armed forces are currently integrating the Leclerc MBT in their global command and control systems. |

Aravis
Mine protected vehicle The ARAVIS® of Nexter Systems was designed to primarily meet the technical requirement for protecting personnel against the new threats (IED and mines) which have appeared in an asymmetric combat environment. It has been in service with French forces in the Afghan theatre of operations since the end of 2010 in carrying out road-opening missions undertaken by the Engineers corps. The ARAVIS®, which is a 13-ton vehicle in combat order, is currently the best protected vehicle in its class on the market thanks to the SAFEPRO® concept which provides it with a high level of protection against projectiles (NATO level 4), against mines (NATO level 4A and 4B) and against shrapnel (155mm shells) and blast effects from improvised explosive devices (IEDs). |
