The project´s total amount reaches €1.89 billion, including the delivery of peripheral equipment, training installations and additional services.

The systems delivered to Qatar by Krauss-Maffei Wegmann are intended to progressively replace the emirates outdated artillery and tanks of French and South African origin, which will be scrapped.

The Leopard 2 is a main battle tank developed by Krauss-Maffei in the early 1970s for the West German Army. The tank first entered service in 1979 with the German armed forces. The latest version, the Leopard 2A6 is armed with a Rheinmetall 120 mm L55 smoothbore gun.

The Leopard 2A6 is fitted with a wedge-shaped, spaced add-on armour to the turret front and the frontal area of the sides. These armour modules defeat a hollow charge prior to reaching the base armour.

The PzH2000 is a German 155 mm self-propelled howitzer developed by Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) and Rheinmetall for the German Army.

The PzH 2000 is being used by four NATO member countries. More than 330 systems have been produced and supplied by Krauss-Maffei Wegmann to date.
