The RT-2000 MLRS is designed to offer the possibility to use three types of rockets, Mk15, Mk30 and Mk45.

This mobile rocket launcher can use 60 Mk15 117-mm rockets, 27 Mk30 180-mm rocket or 12 of Mk45 230mm rockets with a range of 15 km for Mk15 rocket, 30 km for Mk30 rocket and 45 km for Mk45 rocket.

The latest variant of the RT-2000 adopts a MAN 8x8 chassis with AWD (All-wheel-drive Crossover) capability. The primary equipment of the RT-2000 MLRS are firing control system, rocket launcher unit, 10 Kw generator and rocket pods.

It has also secure data and voice radios to receive firing mission from the FDC (Fire Direction Center) and receive command and control from commander.

The RT-2000 MLRS is high mobile, all weather and fully automated rocket system and currently in its initial deployment status with the Taiwanese Army. The vehicle is equipped with a self-reload crane mounted at the rear of the crew cabin.

The Taiwanese Army has taken delivery of its first local-made RT-2000 artillery Multiple Launch Rocket System (AMLRS) from the Chungshan Institute of Science and Technology (CSIST) in September 2012 to replace the army's existing Kung Feng VI 117mm rocket system, which entered into operational service 30 years ago. More than 50 systems are currently planned for production by the Taiwanese Ministry of National Defence.

At TADTE 2013, the RT-2000 MLRS was showed with 12 of Mk45 230mm rockets.
