Successful test-fire Russian-made nuclear-capable Topol ICBM intercontinental ballistic missile 1110.

The test launch of the Topol intercontinental three-stage ballistic missile (ICBM) was carried out from the Kapustin Yar testing ground in the Astrakhan region.

Since 2007, Topol has been repeatedly tested in order to allow for the extension of Topol's service life with the current service life of ICBM of this type being recently extended to 25 years. The initial service life used to be only 10 years.

The RT-2PM Topol became the first Soviet mobile ICBM to be successfully entered into service in 1988.

The SS-25 missile of Topol delivers a payload of 1,000 kg up to a range of 10,000 km (6,214 miles). This payload is equipped with a single 550 kT warhead and probably decoys as well. The system uses a digital computer controlled inertial navigation system which provides an accuracy of 200 m CEP.

The SS-25 is 20.5 m long with a diameter of 1.8 m in the first stage, 1.55 m in the second, and 1.34 m in the third. Its launch weight is 45,100 kg and it uses a three-stage solid propellant engine.

The Topol missile can be launched from mobile launch unit or ground station.
