In
September 2013, at the defence exhibition Russian Expo Arms (REA) in Nizhny
Tagil, many new heavy armoured vehicles will be presented based on the
development of a single universal combat platform called "Armata".
The Russian defence industry will manufactured a full range of new tanks,
armoured fighting vehicles, armoured recovery vehicles, artillery systems,
air defense systems and special equipment for engineering troops based
on this unique platform. |

Work
for the development of this new universal platform is conducted in the
framework of a Russian State program of armament from 2011 to 2020. The
goal of this program is to provide a new family of unified armoured vehicle,
characterized by high armor protection for the soldiers. The same development
with "Kurganet-25" and "Boomerang" is on the way to
create a single platform for light and wheeled vehicles.
All the new combat vehicles will be equipped with new weapon systems to increase the firepower and the range of fire. On-board equipment is designed to be upgraded with unlimited possibilities of modernization. All the vehicles were be transportable by air and rail, and integrated into a single network of communication. The Russian army already prepares the implementation of infrastructure and staff training for the entry into service of these new vehicles. |
