Russia launches construction of two new plants to build more S-400 air defence missile systems. | |||
The
Russian-made S-400
surface-to-air defense missile systems are so requested on
the world defense market that Russia has launched the construction of
two additional plants, announced this week, the Russian President Vladimir
Putin during his traditional session of questions and answers in live
with the local people. |

The Russian-made S-400 ground-to-air defence missile system is able to engage, ECM, radar-picket, director area, reconnaissance, strategic and tactical aircraft, tactical and theatre ballistic missiles, medium-range ballistic missiles at a maximum range of 400 km. |

"We launched build two new plants production of S-400 surface-to-air defence missile systems. These type of missiles receives many requests to be bought by foreign customers all over the world. We no longer have the capacity today to respond to these requests," said the Russian President Vladimir Putin. The
S-400
Triumph (NATO reporting name: SA-21 Growler) is an air defence
missile system developed by Almaz Central Design Bureau of Russia. The
S-400 entered service with the Russian Armed Forces on April 28, 2007,
replacing the S-300 air defense system. Russia
has been negotiating a $6 bln-arms deal with Saudi Arabia since 2007.
Several media sources have also mentioned that Russia could sell advanced
S-300 or even S-400
air defense missile systems to Saudi Arabia. |
