The Company Streit Group, armoured vehicle manufacturer has selected the deFNder® Medium Remote Weapon Station designed, developed and manufactured by Belgian small arms manufacturer FN Herstal to equip its new 6x6 APC (Armoured Personnel Carrier) Veran at the international defence exhibition of Abu Dhabi IDEX 2013 in United Arab Emirates.

The Medium Remote Weapon Station deFNder® of the Belgian Company FN Herstal mounted on the Veran APC of Streit Group is armed with a .50 cal (12.7mm) FN M3R heavy machine gun.

The deFNder® Remote Weapon Stations, available in Light or Medium version, were designed and developed around a same philosophy. They feature unique elevation and depression angles, which is particularly critical in urban and irregular warfare.

They both offer an open architecture, accepting any types of sight modules and a wide choice of FN weapons – from 5.56 to 7.62 cal machine gun for the Light model and from 5.56 to .50 cal machine gun, plus 40mm AGL, for the Medium model. The deFNder® Medium Remote Weapon Station can integrate the exclusive .50 cal FN M3R™ machine gun, with outstanding high firing rate (1,100 RPM).

The FN M3P® is a fully automatic .50 cal (12.7x99mm NATO) machine gun specifically designed to be axially or coaxially mounted in pod or open-air gun configurations for airborne, land or sea weapon system applications.

The Veran is a new 6x6 APC designed and manufactured by the Company Streit Group to offer a new generation of MRAP (Mine Resistant and Ambush Protected).

The capabilities of the Varan 6x6 forward-fighting vehicle reflect its state-of-the-art design. Able to accommodate up to 10 personnel, the Varan’s 400 horse power V6 Cummins engine gives it the power to cross the most difficult and hostile terrains, including deserts. Armoured to a full STANAG 4 level, its V-shaped hull is designed to disseminate the impact of mine blasts immediately.
