Specialist West software group SciSys has won a £5.78m contract with defence giant Lockheed Martin UK to work on its programme to upgrade and improve the British Army’s Warrior armoured fighting vehicle fleet under the MoD’s Warrior Capability Sustainment Programme (WCSP).
Warrior has been in continuous service with the British Army for over 20 years and WCSP will extend the vehicles’ lives into the 2040s.

The group, which has its headquarters in Chippenham and an office in Bristol, is supplying platform management software to Lockheed Martin’s demonstration programme which will be used on the vehicle’s weapon systems armour.

The software integrates and controls the systems on the upgraded Warrior, significantly improving its operational effectiveness. SciSys provided a prototype software system for an earlier phase of the demonstration programme and is providing similar systems to other customers, notably the RNLI.

The WCSP will significantly enhancement the Army’s Warrior vehicles and extend their service lives.

SciSys chairman Dr Mike Love said: “We are proud to be making a significant contribution to the WCSP programme that will support and help protect UK forces for years to come. For SciSys, this is another key contract in the ‘electronic architecture’ niche that we have been investing and leading in over recent years. It also pays testament to the strength of our relationship with Lockheed Martin.”

SciSys supplies bespoke high-end software systems, IT-based solutions and support services to sectors spanning space, defence, media, government and environment.
