Belgian Company Xenics demonstrates its unique IR camera portfolio at LAAD 2013.

At LAAD 2013, the Belgian Company Xenics will demonstrate its unique IR camera portfolio covering the complete IR wavelength range. Xenics advanced Short Wave Infrared (SWIR) cameras look through fog, haze, smoke and can identify humans or objects during night and day, whereas thermal imaging cameras can detect at very long distance under the most diffi cult situations.

Typical uses of advanced IR cameras as night-vision scopes in public environments and/or governmental applications are perimeter and border patrol, and in specific reconnaissance and surveillance missions. Infrared technology is an advanced method to detect and analyse phenomena, normally hidden for the human eye.

Infrared imaging not limited to thermal, is shaping up as a valuable tool to see, to measure and to understand what is there, even in total darkness...

What makes Xenics different from other infrared manufacturers?

Xenics covers the full infrared spectrum, ranging from Shortwave Infrared (SWIR), Midwave Infrared (MWIR), Longwave Infrared (LWIR) to Very Longwave Infrared (VLWIR). This unique capability enables Xenics to offer an application specific camera solution which will suit the customers’ requirements, where other companies can only offer thermal imaging cameras or another part of the infrared spectrum. In short: we offer high quality and advanced infrared cameras covering the complete infrared spectrum for a broad range of customer applications.

Why does Xenics participate at LAAD?

Although globally active in security and industry markets, Xenics has a strong scientific roots with the well known and historical University of Leuven around the corner. Special developments have been made for airborne and spaceborne projects of customers eg. the European Space Agency (ESA) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The invaluable experiences gathered during these projects have resulted in infrared cameras for research & development, industrial process automation or security applications. For Xenics, the LAAD exhibition forms the ideal combination of aerospace and defence markets for our infrared cameras and OEM camera modules, as displayed at our booth# 0.22 in pavilion 3.

What is so special about the Meerkat-Mobile?

The Meerkat-Mobile is a highresolution thermal driver aid for situational awareness and sitesafety in harsh environments. This includes subterranean and open-pit mining, maritime surveillance, mobile monitoring, fire fighting, border security and other demanding security applications. The camera enclosure is extremely ruggedized and the connecting allin-one cable is made to withstand the roughest conditions. The 10 mm wide-angle lens has a large depthof-focus to show objects, events and persons both close-by and far-off. Different accessories are optional, just like the wide variety of RAL color settings.

The Meerkat-Fix is a lightweight, powerful surveillance and monitoring system with an uncooled LWIR thermal imager in an environmentally sealed enclosure. You can easily install this complete system with generic Ethernet connection in a local area network (LAN). Alternatively you can also use the Meerkat Fix in an analog security camera network over video.

With video compression and ONVIF, the Meerkat-Fix thermal LWIR camera is specially designed for the demanding security market. The thermal image is crisp and clear, even under difficult weather conditions and in complete darkness without the use of additional illumination. With this system you will receive very high resolution images, more than any regular infrared security camera. This results in the earliest and most reliable detection of even the smallest temperature change and the smallest object.
