Bukkehave to supply Toyota Land Cruiser military trucks to 13 African Countries | |||
The
US Army has contracted Florida-based defence equipment manufacturer Bukkehave
Inc to manufacture and supply an unspecified number of Toyota Land Cruiser
military truck variants and essential spares to the armed forces of 13
African countries as part of its expanded regional counter-terrorism programme
for East, West and North Africa.

A
contract notice posted on the Federal Business Opportunities register
says the US Army Contracting Command's Tank and Automotive Division selected
Bukkehave to supply the trucks to the armed forces of Burkina Faso, Burundi,
Chad, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Libya, Mali, Mauritania, Niger,
Tunisia and Uganda.
"Bukkehave, Inc. Fort Lauderdale, Florida, was awarded an $11,607,670 firm-fixed-price, requirements, foreign military sales contract for Toyota Land Cruiser truck variants (in both left-hand drive and right-hand drive) to include two-door pick-ups, four-door pick-ups, sport utility vehicles, ambulances, mobile maintenance trucks and common spare parts. "Funding and work location will be determined with each order, with an estimated completion date of September, 2017," according to the contract notice. Bukkehave has also been awarded an additional contract to supply Burkina Faso, Burundi, Chad, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Libya, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Tunisia and Uganda with an unspecified number of heavy duty trucks, which must come in both left and right hand drive variants. "Items include flatbed truck, general transport (personnel carrier) truck, water-tank truck, fuel-tank truck, and common spare parts. Funding and work location will be determined with each order, with an estimated completion date of September, 2018," reads part of the notice from the US Army Contracting Command - Tank and Truck Division. The acquisition will be funded through the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programme. As part of its expanded counter-terrorism programme in Africa the US is providing training and equipment to several countries which have partnered it in the fight against terrorism. So far, Nigeria and Djibouti have received new Toyota Land Cruiser military vehicles through the US programme. |
