The FB-6C air-defense missile system is a short-range vehicle-mounted system carrying the same missile as the FN-16 man-portable air defense missile system (MANPADS) which features all-direction attacks with high quality of anti-interference and targets tracking. The FB-6C operating range is from 500 m to 6 km, and its operating altitude is from 10 m to 4 km.

Developed by China National Precision Machinery Import and Export Corporation (CPMIEC), the FN-16 is a fire-and-forget, Man Portable Air Defense System (MANPADS). The FN-16 is designed to be easy to use and maintain, reliable, upgradable and resistant to jamming.

The FN-16 was introduced in 2008 and featuring UV seeker in addition to the IR seeker as well as improved resistance against electronic countermeasures (ECM). The FN-16 is especially designed to intercept fighter aircraft, helicopters, cruise missiles and UAVs at low and ultra-low altitude. The FN-16 missile has a total weight of 11.5 kg, a length of 1,600 mm and can flight at a maximum speed of 600 m/s.

The typical configuration of one FB-6C includes 1 command and control vehicle and 1 to 6 missile launcher vehicles. A launch station with two blocks of four missiles FN-16 is mounted at the rear of the launcher vehicle.

The command and control vehicle carries one-dimensional active phase scan search radar used for searching, discovering and tracking target. With this command vehicle, operators can control the launcher vehicle to hit target.

The FB-6C command and control vehicle is fitted with a shelter mounted at the rear of a 4x4 light tactical vehicle Dongfeng EQ2015. The radar is fitted on the top of the shelter and can rotate on 360°.

The command and control vehicle can track targets to a maximum distance of 30km and controls 48 missiles.
