Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday, December 1, 2014, inaugurated the
International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) 2014 at Expo Center
which takes place in Karachi from the 1 to 4 December 2014. |

The
opening ceremony was attended by Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan,
Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain, Defence Minister
Khwaja Asif, General Rashad Mahmood, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee,
Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah, Chief of Air Staff Air
Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt and Major General Agha Masood Akram Director
General Defence Export Promotion Organisation. The event also hosted large
number of Diplomats, Foreign and National Delegates, Exhibitors and Defence
Analysts. This biennially held event is hosted by the Pakistani Ministry of Defence Production and Defence Export Promotion Organization while Badar Expo Solutions is the official Event Manager. . |

In
his inaugural address Prime Minister expressed that defence industry of
Pakistan has come a long way, in order to ward off untoward dangers, Pakistan
developed a large military portfolio with satisfactory defence capability
supported by a viable infrastructure. He further added that as our country
is confronting the menace of terrorism and our valiant Armed Forces are
striving for lasting peace, thus we reach out to world with the theme
of “Arms for Peace”. IDEAS is a platform for convergence of
International and domestic defence industry who can benefit from each
other’s expertise in the field. It is instrumental in sharing hard
earned knowledge in form of mutually beneficial partnerships. Earlier in his welcoming address Director General DEPO Major General Agha Masood Akram gave out the details of event that event is booked to its full capacity with 256 foreign and 77 Pakistani companies, besides trade visitors. A total of 88 defence delegations from 50 countries will also be visiting. A Seminar on “Matching Response and Production to the challenges of a Dynamic Security Environment” will also be hosted tonight, eminent scholars from around the globe will deliver their lectures on the topic. Minister of Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain welcomed the chief guest and representatives of friendly countries and participants in his address.
