Russia would like to supply 2S19 MSTA-S 152mm self-propelled howitzer to India 1102142.

The Russian 2S19 MSTA-S is currently under trial tests in India. The howitzer’s chassis has a high level of commonality for components and units with the chassis of the T-90S MBT, whose licenced production has already been mastered at India’s Heavy Vehicles Factory in Avadi.

The 2S19 MSTA-S is a 152mm self-propelled howitzer designed and manufactured by the Russian Company Uraltransmash of Ekaterinberg. It entered service with the Russian Army in 1989.

The Main armament of 2S19 comprises a long-barreled 152 mm gun, the 2A64, fitted with a fume extractor and a muzzle brake. The 152 mm 2A64 main armament of the 2S19 is manufactured by the Barrikady State Production Association.

The 152 mm 2A64 gun fires an HE-FRAG (high-explosive fragmentation) round designated OF-45 to a maximum range of 24.7 km.

Rosoboronexport officials held talks with Indian partners on current and future projects, including upgrading of previously delivered equipment, including the BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles, T-72 and T-90S tanks.

According to senior official, Russia exported $4.78 billion worth of arms and military equipment to India last year.

The sales represented a leap of more than 50 % over Russian exports of weaponry to India in 2012, estimated at about $3 billion.
