India successfully test-fired its local-made Prithvi-II nuclear-capable short-range ballistic missile.
India on Tuesday, January 7, 2013, test-fired its indigenously developed Prithvi-II missile, which is capable of carrying 500 kg to 1,000 kg of warheads and has a strike range of 350 km, from a test range at Chandipur near here. The test was carried out as part of a user trial by the Army. The surface-to-surface missile was test fired from a mobile launcher in salvo mode from launch complex-3 of the Integrated Test Range at about 0948 hrs.

India successfully conducted another test of its nuclear-capable missile Prithvi-II missile.
     

December 23, India successfully test-fired its nuclear-capable Agni-III surface-to-surface missile from a military base in Odisha.

The local-made ballistic missile was fired from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur-on-sea in Balasore district, about 230 km from Bhubaneswar. The test was carried out by the Strategic Forces Command (SFC) as part of a regular training exercise, he said.

It was developed with the Indian Air Force being the primary user. It was first test-fired on January 27, 1996 and the development stages were completed in 2004. The Prithvi-II missile has a strike range of 350 km and is capable of carrying warheads of up to 1000 kg,

Such training launches clearly indicate India’s operational readiness to meet any eventuality and also establishes the reliability of this deterrent component of India’s strategic arsenal, the source said.

The last user trial of Prithvi-II missile was successfully carried out from the same base on December 3, 2013.
