Michael Edwards, the adjutant general of the Colorado National Guard,
and Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Mitchell Brush, the senior enlisted
adviser to the chief of the National Guard Bureau, met with Jordanian
counterparts during a two-day visit here that reinforced the thriving
partnership between Colorado and Jordan. “The National Guard does three things very well,” Grass said. “We fight our nation’s wars, we protect the homeland and we sustain robust global partnerships like that between the Colorado National Guard and Jordan.” The military leaders discussed the current security situation in the region and military cooperation. Among other goals, the Jordanian armed forces seeks to accelerate development of its noncommissioned officer corps. Steps Jordan has taken include appointing the nation’s first sergeant major of the Jordanian armed forces. The Colorado National Guard is examining the potential for sharing tactics, techniques and procedures for maneuvering over rugged land terrain with the Jordanian armed forces, Edwards said. Colorado National Guard members routinely deal with challenging terrain, including the Rocky Mountains, in both aerial and land operations. |
