Police of Pakistan would like to acquire 20 Lazar II Serbian-made armoured fighting vehicles. | |||
Pakistan
police has decided to procure at least 20 Serbian Lazar
II armoured fighting vehicles. .According to the Newspaper
"The Express Tribune", the Pakistani police department had shown
interest in buying APCs from foreign countries. To achieve the plan, the
police logistics experts approached at least five countries – Turkey,
Ukraine, Russia, Serbia and United States of America. |

The
APCs that the police department currently have are so badly damaged that
bullets can easily pierce through them. In mid-November, 2013, several
bullets penetrated through the body of an APC, killing a police official. |

Currently,
the Police of Pakistan is equipped with the light security vehicle Mohafiz
designed and manufactured by the Pakistani Defense Company Heavy Industries
Taxila (HIT). The vehicle is based on the chassis of a commercial vehicle Land Rover Defender 110. It has welded with aluminium armour along with ballistic steel with ricochet angles all around. The vehicle armour provides protection against firing of small arms 7.62mm caliber. A small turret is mounted on the top of the vehicle which can be armed with a 7.62mm machine gun. The Mohafiz security vehicle can carry a total 8 personnel including the driver and the commander. |
