President Bronislaw Komorowski said on Tuesday, September 9, during Tuesday's
National Defense Council session a full acceptance for 2 percent of its
gross domestic product (GDP) in the state budget to be reserved for defense
goals was given. |

The president wants Polish annual defense spending to be raised from the current 1.95 percent of GDP to 2 percent. Komorowski added that during the Council session, the Foreign Affairs Minister and National Defense Minister both presented their speeches on the matter of the recent NATO summit in Wales. The conclusion was that Poland need seek ways to strengthen its defense system. Komorowski said Poland needed to look for potentially possible elements to strengthen the defense system, especially through many uniformed services. The other aspect was to shape the pro-defense attitude of the society, especially through increasing the will of performing military duties oneself. National Defense Council is to meet again in order to create a conception of cooperating with the government on this matter. |
