The contract for a range of different turrets was awarded
to Denel Land Systems via Malaysia’s Deftech, with Reutech Solutions
being subcontracted for the 12.7 mm remote controlled weapon station
turrets.
Reutech said since receiving the contract, Denel Land Systems requested a few changes on behalf of the Malaysian Army, with changes to the human machine interface so it matches that of other Denel turrets; the installation of the same electro-optical sights as other Denel turrets and the installation of 76 mm smoke grenade launchers. After these changes were made, Reutech requalified the turret, culminating in successful factory acceptance tests and shooting trials witnessed by DLS and the end user. Delivery of the first production units has now started and production is expected to run over a three year period. The Land Rogues supplied by Reutech are armed with 12.7
mm Browning M2 machineguns. The Sea Rogue is service with South African
Navy and the UAE Coast Guard. Malaysia has ordered 257 FNSS/Deftech AV-8 8x8 armoured
vehicles, to be manufactured by Deftech of Malaysia. |
