"KBM provided the Russian army with another brigade set of advanced Verba portable air defense missile systems intended for the Land Forces of the Russian Federation, as well as a division set of these complexes for the Airborne Troops," he said.

The newest man-portable air-defense systems (MANPADS) should replace the Igla-S systems of the previous generation that are currently in service with the Russian armed forces.

In May 2014,the Russian Airborne Forces have started receiving first batch of the newest Verba man-portable air-defense systems (MANPADS) equipped with an automated fire control system

The Verba portable air defense missile system successfully underwent state-commissioned trials in 2011. These systems are manufactured by a holding which includes KBM and a number of other leading enterprises.

The Verba is a man-portable, shoulder-launched surface-to-air missile system (MANPADS) featuring an automated fire control system to engage any airborne target in 18-30 seconds.

The Verba system includes missiles, command, detection and targeting equipment, Identification Friend or Foe equipment, technical maintenance equipment, as well as training equipment.

The Verba system is fitted with a new optical three-band seeker, can hit targets flying at speeds of up to 500 meters per second, within a range of up to 6,400 meters and at altitudes of up to 4,500 meters. The warhead weighs around 1.5 kilograms.
