has test-fired an intercontinental ballistic missile Topol
RS-12 (NATO code SS-25 Sickle) Intercontinental Ballistic
missile (ICBM) from a test site in southern Russia on Tuesday, March 3,
2014, evening, a Russian defense ministry spokesman said. |

A Topol RS-12M intercontinental ballistic missile is launched from the Plesetsk base in a test in 2009. |

The firing test was performed from Kapustin Yar about
450 km east of the Ukrainian border. Spokesman Igor Yegorov said the
launch took place at 22:10 Moscow time (6:10 p.m. GMT) from the Kapustin
Yar testing range in southern Russia’s Astrakhan Region. |

The
RT-2PM Topol SS-25 Sickle,or RS-12M Topol is a mobile
intercontinental ballistic missile designed in the Soviet Union and in
service with Russia's Strategic Rocket Forces. The SS-25 delivers a payload of 1,000 kg up to a range of 10,000 km (6,214 miles). This payload is equipped with a single 550 kT warhead and probably decoys as well. The system uses a digital computer controlled inertial navigation system which provides an accuracy of 200 m CEP. |
